Last year, the Polish sports industry was worth close to PLN 10 billion. At the same time, the related budget investments reached nearly PLN 1.8 billion! The world sports market was worth last year almost half a trillion dollars.
Spendings on sport and recreation among Polish consumers
Recent B2B market research study in Poland by the Polish Economic Institute shows that the average household budget for sports and recreation is currently PLN 458. This is almost 10% more than 4 years earlier. The largest increase in expenses concerned the purchase of sportswear and the smallest purchase, maintenance, and rental of sports equipment.
According to the report, budget investments related to the Polish sports market reach nearly PLN 1.8 billion. Unfortunately, despite the spending on sport do not translate to our physical activity. Worryingly, the report indicates that only one out of three Poles exercise regularly and half of us do not work out at all. We don’t do well against other Europeans here. Statistics say up to 40% of all European citizens claim to practise sports on a regular basis.
Experts have also calculated that the lack of physical activity of the inhabitants of our country brings the Polish economy PLN 7 billion in losses annually.
