A few years ago, the smartphone market over 2.5 thousand. zlotys was a niche in Poland. It was literally a few percent of the total equipment sold. These were the times when we paid 2999 PLN for the flagship. Today the situation looks completely different.
As it turns out, the smartphone market in Poland in the price above 600 euros (about 2.5 thousand zlotys) is now 15 percent. It’s a big progress over the last years. Probably we are still far away from Western European countries, but what’s interesting, when there is a downward trend in this segment, high-end is still growing in Poland.
Polish consumers buy expensive smartphones – but what brands?
Unfortunately, we do not know how the forces are spreading in this 600+ EUR segment in terms of brands. We can, however, speculate. At today’s press meeting, Huawei boasted about its business in Poland. The increases make a huge impression – the company currently has almost 1/3 of the market. Exactly, it’s 29.5 percent. in terms of volume and 27 percent. in terms of value, which increases year-on-year at the level of 35%, respectively. and 39 percent However, this most expensive shelf looks particularly interesting. Here, Huawei increased its share by 293 per cent a year. and 300 percent
Even 2-3 years ago, the 600+ euro segment was divided between Apple and Samsung. Other brands were fighting for customers’ remnants. Of course, it was worth it anyway, because the high-end margin is the highest. Today we know that 16-17 percent. this segment belongs to Huawei. Rather, it does not seem to me that Xiaomi, dynamically growing in Poland, has had significant successes in this field. We can therefore suppose that Apple and Samsung are still dominant in the high-end. It is clear, however, that the situation is changing from year to year.
